
Ensuring that children are safe and secure is the responsibility of the whole community and we will continue to work with parents, schools and the police to help children feel safe wherever they are in Barnet. The responsibility for overseeing safeguarding work rests with Barnet's Children's Service Social Care and Safeguarding, which continues to provide a hugely valuable service through five specialist divisions: Assessment, Children in need, Children in care, Provider services, Specialist services.
Assessment Division
This division makes comprehensive need assessments and provides children and young people with support to remain safely at home in the care of their parents or families. This division also incorporates hospital social work teams and Child and Adolescent Mental Health services
Children in Care Division
This division is responsible for supporting children and young people in care to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Children in Need Division
This division is responsible for helping children and young people remain safely at home in the care of their parents or families.
Provider Services Division
This division is responsible for fostering and adoption services, as well as our two residential homes.
Specialist Resources Division
This division is responsible for commissioning and providing a range of resources to support children and young people in care and leaving care to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Safeguarding Division
This division has lead responsibility for auditing and monitoring the services offered to children in need and their families and supports the development of the Safeguarding Children Board.
