Keeping Young People Safe
We take our responsibilities to young people very seriously in Barnet. All new staff are required to undertake a personal interview prior to appointment, to ensure we are appointing suitable people to work with children and young people.
The Children’s Service offers a full range of professional development programmes in all areas of child protection and safeguarding, and staff are encouraged to take part in the optional accredited programmes to gain credits towards any future development programmes. Courses are offered in the legal aspects of safeguarding, issues around domestic violence, courses on neglect, multi-disciplinary working and many more areas. Training is also offered on the Common Assessment Framework.
